Battleships is a two player guessing game played on a grid style format.
Each player keeps their grid secret from their partner and draws a certain number of boats on their grid (here at Gru Languages, we suggest five).
Then each player takes it in turns to guess the location of their partner’s boat.
The aim of the game is to find all of the other player’s boats.
Traditionally the game is played with letters and numbers. Here at Gru Languages we love using this game to practise a wide variety of language skills such as vocabulary, grammar points, forming questions and much more!
It’s a fantastic game to play because it’s very versatile, it can be played with big or small classes, with various levels and age groups, it’s simple to set up and it generates a huge amount of student talk time!! Plus, the best thing about this game is… it’s fun and children love playing it!
