Odd One OutLanguage game instructions

Odd One Out is a fun and flexible speaking game where children look at four picture cards and decide which one is different. Students choose the odd one out and explain their reasoning using simple English, for example “The penguin is the odd one out because the others are pets.” This activity is ideal for building vocabulary, practising categories and descriptions and encouraging children to speak in full sentences with confidence.

This online game works well as a whole-class activity on an interactive whiteboard, or in small groups with students taking turns to share their answers. It can also be used as a warm-up, a lesson filler or a quick speaking task to revise topic vocabulary. Because there may be more than one possible answer, children are encouraged to think creatively, listen to different opinions and practise giving reasons in English.
