Put Them In Order is an interactive drag-and-drop game that helps children practise comparatives and superlatives in a fun, visual way. In each round, students look at a set of pictures and drag them into the correct order. The different rounds include size, weight, height, distance from London, units of time, age, speed and temperature. This encourages vocabulary practice, discussion and critical thinking.
As children place the pictures, they naturally practise language such as bigger than / the biggest, older than / the oldest, faster than / the fastest, and hotter than / the hottest. This game works well as a whole-class activity on an interactive whiteboard, with students taking turns to move the pictures and explain their choices. It can also be used in pairs or small groups as a speaking task, where children discuss their answers before placing the images.
This activity supports grammar development, reasoning skills and classroom communication, and is ideal for revision lessons, warm-ups or fun end-of-class practice.
