A fun and enjoyable classroom game, ideal for teaching children carnival vocabulary.

Target language: costume, parade, mask dancing, balloons, party hat, float, music.

Instructions: start with ‘Game 1’. Each child colours the pictures red, yellow or blue. The teacher then calls out at random a series of Chinese New Year words and colours, keeping note as the game goes on. For example: ‘Red Costume’ … ‘Blue Party Hat’

When the children hear a combination which they have on their worksheet, they cross it out. The first child to cross out all of their pictures, calls out Bingo! and is the winner of the game. Repeat for Game 2 and Game 3.

You will need: one worksheet per child.
