A fun and engaging classroom game, ideal for teaching children wild animal vocabulary.
Target language: penguin, elephant, crocodile, parrot, lion, tiger, giraffe, monkey
Instructions: ask the children to cut out the cards and put them in 3 piles, ‘Say’, ‘Read’ and ‘Spell’. In pairs or small groups the children take it in turns to roll the dice and move their counters forward the number of spaces shown on the dice. Upon landing on a number, the child must pick a card depending on the shape. If they ‘Say’, ‘Read’ or ‘Spell’ the word correctly they can stay in that position. If not, they must return to their previous position. The first child to reach the finish line is the winner.
You will need: one worksheet per pair or small group, scissors, dice and counters.
